About The Position

The Service Technician is responsible for the effective repair of machinery and components at high levels of quality. This individual works under direct supervision. The role involves reconditioning and repairing all assigned equipment components and systems, maintaining good working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases, and caring for shop tools, equipment, and vehicles. The technician must communicate professionally and maintain excellent customer and employee relations.

Requirements

  • A technical school certificate or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Good, safe work habits.
  • A good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions on Wheel Loaders, Excavators, Bull Dozers, Crushers, Screeners, Pavers, Roller Compactors, Skid Steer Loaders, and Backhoe Loaders.
  • Strong diagnostic skills in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Powertrains.
  • Able to perform repairs for all major equipment systems.
  • Personable, a problem solver, reliable, ethical, intelligent and able to adapt to all of the forces around them – customers, suppliers, department employees, co-workers and manufacturers employees.

Responsibilities

  • Recondition and repair all equipment components and systems assigned by the shop manager.
  • Maintain good working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases in repairs.
  • Maintain and care for shop tools, equipment, and vehicles, including the service truck.
  • Communicate with others professionally.
  • Maintain excellent customer and employee relations.
  • Plan methods and sequence of performing repairs.
  • Order all parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs.
  • Effect repairs in a safe and effective manner.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed as assigned.
  • Ensure the cosmetic appearance upon completion meets requirements.
  • Ensure all parts and materials not used are returned per guidelines.
  • Maintain the work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow all record keeping methods per instructions.
  • Include all cost-related items in the job "jacket".
  • Ensure all records kept are legible or in compliance with established methods.
  • Ensure all tools and special equipment used on repairs are clean before returning them.
  • Ensure specialty tools used on jobs are returned to the original location in working condition.
  • Conduct all communications with customers in a manner reflecting respect and honesty.
