About The Position

Under the direction of the Service Manager, the Service Technician works to repair, diagnose, and maintain exercise equipment. Will maintain a small parts inventory and document work performed in accordance with policies and procedures. The role involves a travel area of a 2-2.5 hour radius of Waterloo, NE with occasional travel beyond this radius. The hours are from 8 am until the route is completed, with no set end time.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • 1-3 years of experience in a technical support or service role preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft CRM (Customer Relationship Management) helpful
  • Moving fitness equipment during diagnostic calls, repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds to carry items such as tool bag and parts
  • Will be required to move 40-50 pounds up to 20% of the work day
  • Push/pull up to 100 pounds 0-5% of the work day while utilizing devices such as moving dollies/carts.
  • The ability to use standard hand tools (wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets, drills, voltmeter, etc.).
  • The ability to walk/run/lift to test exercise equipment for issues and when work is completed to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Basic knowledge of technical and mechanical problem solving preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and similar communication related software

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose problems and repair malfunctioning exercise equipment by following testing procedures
  • Provide complete and accurate information about the inspections and steps taken to make the repair per department work practices
  • Log all service claims in system within 24 hours of work completed
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of service parts and perform quarterly audits
  • Discuss, present and close service contracts and special programs being offered for customers
  • Discuss with customer continued service when product is no longer under warranty
  • When applicable, discuss new product options with customers or defer customer to retail store
  • Provide accurate service reports to management when requested
  • Report to the Service Manager if customer is having any issues that should be addressed at a higher level
  • Regular inspection of the company vehicle will be held by the Service Manager to ensure that the vehicle is in satisfactory condition to be operated.
  • Vehicles must be kept clean by removing trash and all personal items at the end of each day.
  • Service Technician is responsible for notifying the Manager when vehicle is due for routine service maintenance or vehicle experiences any issues.
  • Other projects as needed.
