About The Position

Perform root cause analysis of warranty return and/or production transmission assemblies. Analyzes failed assemblies, components and transmission fluid to determine failure cause, and document findings for communication to internal product line team members. Support team collaboration efforts for determining responsibility coding and potential production solutions.

Requirements

  • Diploma from technical school training in transmission or power train technology, or related field; or seven or more years related work experience and/or training in general automotive maintenance & repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand component and/or assembly drawings.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to follow understand and follow standard work or technical instructions.
  • Must have a valid automobile driver's license at all times and be able to drive customer or company vehicles.
  • Proficient in basic mathematics

Nice To Haves

  • Functional knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for interpreting specifications in component and assembly drawings.
  • 3 years of automotive repair experience, demonstrated skills via third party assessments/certifications, or completion of Vocational-Technical School Program
  • Current A.S.E. certification in A1(Engine) and/or A2 (Transmission)

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth root cause investigation of returned warranty finished good and components to determine root cause(s).
  • Provide recommendation of responsibility on primary root cause as it pertains to the warranty field claim documented.
  • Perform appropriate testing of finished goods, sub-assemblies, and/or components as required to replicate the claim complaint or confirm root cause(s).
  • Document the analysis in a standardized report to present to quality engineers, other internal functional support team members, and customer representatives.
  • Support the customer flow line team in determining interim containment or corrective actions.
  • Adhere to ATC operational policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Understand and maintain compliance with industry standards as applicable (e.g. IATF 16949; ISO 14001, etc.).
  • Maintain a working environment compliant with department 5S standards.
  • Perform vehicle replacement of finished good transmissions or engines, sub-assemblies, and/or components.
  • Analyze failure symptoms to determine root cause(s).
  • Ensure any approved repair is re-qualified prior to end of line testing using production control plan identified processes and equipment.
