The Marine/Service Technician is responsible for the repair and overhaul of boats, machinery and trailers. Key tasks include examining boats and discussing damage or malfunction with service advisors or customers, performing diagnostics and repair of all types of marine engines and transmissions/drives/generators. The role involves extensive mechanical repair work such as removing engines, transoms or outdrives, disassembling units to inspect parts for wear, overhauling or replacing carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical and fuel systems. Technicians will also rebuild parts like engine cylinder blocks, rewire ignition systems, lights and instrument panels, replace and adjust taillights, and install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers. Other duties include operating hydraulic jacks or hoists as needed, advising customers and/or insurance adjusters on necessary repairs, completing repair work within established timeframes using service schedulers and SSOs, ensuring all warranty work is completed according to manufacturer’s and company guidelines, safely operating company and customer vessels during diagnostic water testing operations, and maintaining tools in good condition.
