About The Position

The responsibilities of a Service Technician at Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet include diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing customer vehicles. A State of Michigan Repair License is required by law. Any ASE Certifications are a bonus and highly regarded. No General Motors experience is required but is a benefit. The dealership is undergoing a significant expansion with a new $30 million facility being built, breaking ground in August of 2026. The Service Department has experienced consistent work for over two years. The company emphasizes its family-owned nature, with three generations of ownership, and a strong commitment to the community and the services provided. They are investing in upgrades to both the Chevrolet and Buick/GMC dealerships.

Requirements

  • State of Michigan Repair License
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience as an auto technician
  • Knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance
  • Fast, eager learner and team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Computer skills and willingness to learn new problems
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Clean driving record & valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards.
  • Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems.
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed.
  • Provide estimates of time needed for additional repairs.
  • Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
