About The Position

Our Equipment Service Technician will be responsible for installing and repairing worn or defective machinery or equipment at customer sites following blueprints, manufacturer’s instructions and utilizes knowledge of mechanical hydraulic and electrical machinery. This position will also operate machines through trial runs to ensure that quality and rate of production meet specifications.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, electrical symbols and how power flows through circuitry.
Strong knowledge of motor controls, drivers and safety circuits. Can make adjustments of electro-mechanical systems on level 1,2 and 3 equipment.
Ability to read, interpret and produce pneumatic, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical drawings for complex installation and troubleshooting equipment sold by Veritiv.
Understand AC and DC voltages and can use an electric meter in troubleshooting scenarios.
Troubleshooting skills – diagnosing and troubleshooting micro-logic device, electrical, pneumatic and PLC Ladder logic.
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) skills – can write complex logic, interface equipment and can make complex program changes. Has successfully attended a formal PLC school and can develop and write logic fluently.
Must possess valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Some overnight travel required, including log distance driving and air travel.
Lantech Level 3 or 4, Shanklin F and Omni Level RS Logic 500 or 5000 training or certification, required.
Must have certifications from manufacturer trainings on stretch wrappers, shrink wrappers, case sealers, case erectors, label printers and strapping related products.
10-15 years of related job experience.
Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
A through understanding of government regulations (DOT, OSHA, HazMat, etc.).
Basic experience of simple office/operational systems.
Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).
Strong planning and organization skills are required.
Must lift and handle parts up to 75 pounds.
Must work in industrial environments, including working on ladders and lifts at high elevation, as well as low elevations such as underneath equipment.
Must work in a variety of settings, including fast-paced industrial and food production environments.

Responsibilities

Perform repair, maintenance and start up on stretch wrappers, shrink wrappers, case sealing, case erectors, label printer/applicators, strapping equipment and assorted products at customer and Veritiv company sites.
Support systems integration with customers, manufacturers, suppliers and other service personnel involving machine problems and/or turn-key systems.
Perform a variety of sophisticated electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulics and electro-mechanical tests, repair and maintenance on equipment, assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts to ensure the equipment functions according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Conduct setup calibration, testing, mechanical assemblies and troubleshooting of circuits, components and instruments using moderately complex blueprints and electrical schematics.
Provide subject matter expertise, trainings and product demonstrations of Veritiv packaging systems and related equipment if needed.
Provide training and is SME to other members of the team.
Complete field service work orders including billing of travel, labor hours, parts and other related items in a timely and accurate manner.
Generate quotes and estimates for preventative and planned maintenance of machines.
