About The Position

The Service Tech w/CDL is responsible for providing technical trouble shooting support for designated client business, as well as providing delivery of chemicals. This role involves working with ethics, honesty, values and integrity, and maintaining a professional demeanor. The technician will perform collections of various field samples for ongoing monitoring and analysis, manage internal resources, and communicate effectively with various teams to ensure coordination. They will also be responsible for inventory management, operating and maintaining a pickup truck with a trailer, performing pre/post trip inspections, loading trailers, and scheduling daily runs to meet customer delivery requirements. Adherence to DOT regulations for hazardous materials transportation and Homeland Security requirements is crucial. The role requires accurate record-keeping of delivery locations, timely completion of work tickets with detailed descriptions, and regular communication with sales and supervisors regarding field problems and safety hazards. Wearing appropriate safety gear, staying current on safety techniques, and completing monthly safety and equipment training are mandatory. The technician will also be responsible for answering a company-issued cell phone during on-call hours and performing any other duties assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to maintain insurability with Company insurance.
  • Must have at least one (1) year of previous DOT driving experience.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, clients and management.
  • Requires a strong sense of direction and knowledge of surrounding areas.
  • Must be able to use hand tools.
  • Must be able to drive long distances in company vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs collections of various field samples for on-going monitoring and analysis.
  • Manages internal resources necessary to support this business.
  • Communicates with the workers, engineers, designers and technicians in maintaining effective co-ordination between them.
  • Performs inventory management measures to ensure compliance and specifications are met to standard.
  • Operates a ¾ or 1 ton pickup with trailer, and maintains truck and equipment in safe and operable condition at all times by performing daily and periodic mechanical and safety inspections.
  • Performs complete pre/post trip inspections.
  • Loads trailers and schedules daily runs to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Responsible for accurate up-to-date delivery location maps, and operates in accordance with DOT regulations governing the transportation of hazardous materials in accordance with Homeland Security requirements and guidelines.
  • Completes work tickets for jobs legibly, timely and with full detailed description of daily activity.
  • Maintains regular communication with sales and supervisor in order to report field problems and/or safety hazards.
  • Wears appropriate safety gear at all times during delivery operations.
  • Keeps current on safety techniques and take advantage of all opportunities to improve driving and safety skills.
  • Completes all safety and equipment related trainings required on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for answering company issued cell phone during on call hours, in accordance with company and safety policies.
