About The Position

The Service Technician at Pref-Tech will be responsible for servicing and troubleshooting access control, IP-based and analog video management systems, and auto-gate equipment. Scope of duties include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting and repair of electrified and non-electrified locks, card readers, ancillary access-controlled door devices, IP and analog cameras, head-end video recording devices, wired and wireless networks, and intercom systems. This person will need to be detail-oriented and able to document and communicate all repairs, as well as effectively communicate with customers.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid TX Driver’s License.
  • Must have 5 or more years in relevant access control installation, service and configuration.
  • Access Control HID Mercury CCTV
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks like walking, standing, driving, lifting up to 50lbs unassisted, and ascending / descending ladders and stairs of varying heights with little to no limitation.
  • Currently licensed or must have the ability to immediately obtain TXDPS Security License.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, successfully pass an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check, and maintain a clean driving record as a condition of continued use of a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Install cabling, mount equipment, install card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes, and integrated systems.
  • Trouble shooting of cabling, card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes, cameras, PLC, intrusion, and integrated systems.
  • Functional understanding of low voltage systems, relays, principals of normally closed/normally open, series and parallel wiring.
  • General understanding of Network Topology.
  • Use a multi-meter to test for voltage, continuity, and resistance.
  • Possess mechanical and computer skill and ability to effectively troubleshoot.
  • Operate any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
  • Document and update work orders and customers in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
