About The Position

The Service Technician III is a senior-level field service professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and safe operation of propane systems and related equipment. This position serves as a technical resource within the Propane Division and is expected to perform advanced service work with minimal supervision while supporting the development and training of fellow technicians. The Service Technician III is responsible for a broad range of propane infrastructure projects including residential and commercial propane systems, underground tank installations, cathodic protection systems, dispenser transfer systems, gas distribution systems, generator installations, and bulk plant improvements. This position requires strong technical knowledge, a commitment to safety, and the ability to deliver exceptional customer service while representing Carson in a professional manner. The role includes advanced propane installation responsibilities, underground tank and cathodic protection work, dispenser transfer systems, and bulk plant projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Oregon Master Pipe Fitter License required.
  • Current Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement and valid D.O.T. Medical Certificate.
  • Current Hazmat Endorsement or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Minimum two (2) years of tanker truck driving experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible propane service and installation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with propane distribution systems, underground tank installations, and appliance service.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and mechanical diagnostic abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred completion of applicable CETP certifications including: Basic Principles and Practices of Propane, Basic Plant Operations, Designing and Installing Exterior Vapor Distribution Systems, Placing Vapor Distribution Systems into Operation, Installing Appliances and Interior Vapor Distribution Systems, Basic Electricity for Propane Appliance Service, Designing and Installing Dispenser Transfer Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, place, and connect propane tanks at residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial customer locations.
  • Perform gas checks, leak tests, pressure tests, and system start-up procedures.
  • Install, service, and troubleshoot propane appliances and equipment.
  • Install propane vapor and liquid gas distribution systems.
  • Install interior and exterior gas piping systems.
  • Install underground propane tanks, product piping, and cathodic protection systems.
  • Design and install propane dispenser transfer systems.
  • Support bulk plant construction, maintenance, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Install, service, and support generator systems and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose propane system, appliance, regulator, and generator issues.
  • Perform repairs and recommend corrective actions to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Serve as a technical resource on complex propane installations and service work.
  • Train, mentor, and assist Service Technicians I and II.
  • Support safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, compliance documentation, and job site paperwork.
  • Assist management with project planning and field execution of larger installations.
  • Operate propane delivery equipment, including bobtail trucks, as required.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
