About The Position

The service technician apprentice is responsible for a variety of entry level job duties, to include aspects of detailing, yard work, rigging as well as gaining general knowledge of the sales, service, and parts department’s processes through a structured apprentice program. The apprentice will follow the guidance of their assigned mentor technician while completing their outlined goals and tasks.

Requirements

  • Successfully complete Self-led and online training curriculum/courses
  • Gain familiarity with products and understand nuances involved in boat detailing
  • Understand functions of yard personnel
  • Gain exposure to new product assembly procedures
  • Gain exposure to warranty procedures
  • Gain exposure to work order entry
  • Gain exposure to time management skills
  • Exposure to all aspects of departmental operations
  • Exposure to over the counter and work order sales processes
  • Exposure to parts ordering and inventory maintenance
  • Gain critical knowledge of customer service
  • Gain critical knowledge of work order management
  • Gain critical knowledge of timecard entry
  • Gain critical knowledge of importance of documentation
  • Gain understanding of processes associated with the sales and delivery of new boats
  • Interface on daily basis with lead technician and riggers
  • Perform light duty technician tasks
  • Assist as needed with any other repairs
  • Set up and participate in boat shows and other off-site promotional events
  • Maintain a professional and clean workspace for customer viewing
  • Successfully pass OEM certification(s)
  • Complete all required apprenticeship documentation daily
  • Follow the apprentice program outline and complete all tasks and meet all goals

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete Self-led and online training curriculum/courses
  • Learn and exhibit skills in detailing (exterior, interior, buff and wax, safety guidelines)
  • Gain understanding of yard personnel functions (equipment operation, boat movement and storing, yard safety)
  • Gain exposure to rigging procedures (new product assembly, warranty, work order entry, time management)
  • Gain exposure to parts department operations (over the counter and work order sales, parts ordering, inventory maintenance)
  • Gain knowledge of customer service, work order management, timecard entry, and documentation by shadowing a Service Advisor
  • Gain understanding of sales and delivery processes for new boats
  • Interface with lead technician and riggers daily
  • Perform light duty technician tasks (oil filters, general service, warranty repairs, assist with other repairs)
  • Set up and participate in boat shows and other off-site promotional events
  • Maintain a professional and clean workspace
  • Successfully pass OEM certification(s)
  • Complete all required apprenticeship documentation daily
  • Follow the apprentice program outline and complete all tasks and meet all goals
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
