About The Position

The service technician apprentice is responsible for a variety of entry level job duties, to include aspects of detailing, yard work, rigging as well as gaining general knowledge of the sales, service, and parts department’s processes through a structured apprentice program. The apprentice will follow the guidance of their assigned mentor technician while successfully completing their outlined on-the-job training and on-line and self-led coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Gain familiarity with products and understand nuances involved in boat detailing (exterior, interior, buff, and wax) as well as safety guidelines.
  • Gain understanding of functions of yard personnel, including equipment and machinery operation, proper boat movement and storing procedures, and yard safety.
  • Gain exposure to new product assembly procedures and the PDI process.
  • Gain exposure to all aspects of the Parts Department operations, including over-the-counter and work order sales processes, parts ordering, and inventory maintenance.
  • Gain critical knowledge of customer service, work order management, timecard entry, and the importance of documentation by shadowing a senior Service Advisor.
  • Gain an understanding of warranty procedures and work order entry, and begin to develop time management skills.
  • Gain understanding of the processes associated with the sales and delivery of new boats.
  • Perform light duty technician tasks such as changing oil, general service and warranty repairs, and assist as needed with any other repairs.
  • Set up and participate in boat shows and other off-site promotional events.
  • Maintain a professional and clean workspace for customer viewing.
  • Successfully pass OEM certification(s).
  • Meet daily with the assigned Mentor Technician as well as regular meetings with the Service Manager or Fixed Operations Manager.
  • Complete all required apprenticeship documentation daily.
  • Follow the apprentice program outline and complete all tasks and meet all goals.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
