About The Position

This position will be open to internal and external candidates and will close on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The Service Tech position pays between $48,720 and $60,900 and the Sr. Service Tech position pays between $55,520 and $69,400. Compensation is dependent upon skills, experience and education of the successful candidate. In addition to base pay, the Service Tech position is eligible for a 5% supplemental pay and the Sr. Service Tech is eligible for a 15% supplemental pay, which is administered in accordance with the NMGC's Supplemental Pay Policy. The successful candidate must live within 30 minutes of the Albuquerque Gas Service Center. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Service Tech: 0-4 years of related experience and the ability to obtain your Journeyman’s Gasfitter’s License (JGL) within 2.5 years.
  • Senior Service Tech: 4+ years of direct experience and Journeyman Gas Fitter’s License (JGL).
  • A valid driver’s license and depending on position and/or geographic locations, the ability to obtain and maintain a New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Nice To Haves

  • Plumbing and/or HVAC experience.

Responsibilities

  • Completes meter orders to include connects, disconnects, meter sets, and meter exchanges, in a timely and safe manner.
  • May investigate and respond to gas emergency orders and requests, such as blowing gas lines, in compliance with Company emergency and safety guidelines.
  • Prepares and completes in a timely/accurate manner various/required reports in the performance of assigned duties, such as damage reports, odorant test reports and/or related system reports.
  • Collaborates and consults with various individuals and groups to ensure the timely and safe completion of work assignments.
  • May be assigned to monitor warehousing of supplies and/or related materials as required or assigned.
