About The Position

HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Service Shop Technician who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. This position is based in Batesburg, SC. The Technician performs tests, installation, calibration, and maintenance on electrical systems, often involving the use of specific test equipment and software to diagnose and repair malfunctions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a test manufacturing environment or related field
  • Great attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong mechanical inclination and knowledge of various hand tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and operations manuals
  • Ability to perform hands-on mechanical work
  • Ability to use both common and specialized tools and test equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team member
  • Ability to participate in training programs to stay current with new equipment and procedures
  • Ability to learn new processes, procedures, and technologies
  • Ability to lift, stand, walk, and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift or lower items weighing < 24lbs (10.9kg) and Push or Pull efforts < 42lbs (19kg)

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with TEAM Center and SAP Enterprise Software

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret schematics, work orders, assembly documents and other technical documents
  • Diagnose and correct faults in electrical and electromechanical systems using wiring diagrams, schematics, and specialized test equipment
  • Conduct tests on on-board, trackside, communication, and control systems
  • Perform routine inspections, adjustments, and cleaning on signaling and other assigned electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot issues related to software configurations, system failures, and communication faults down to component level
  • Work with engineers and other departments to investigate failures, refine test procedures, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Inspect work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance, to include HSE critical requirements and great attention to detail
  • Maintain complete and accurate records
  • Adhere to safety and quality guidelines and company policies
  • Perform other duties as required
