About The Position

This position is responsible for completing work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback. The role also complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans, using the Open Door Policy, and applying these in executing business processes and practices. The technician will perform minor to intermediate inspections, repairs, and replacements on all Walmart equipment, including trailers, tractors, yard trucks, shop equipment, and service vehicles. This involves creating and processing work orders, performing minor diagnostics with technical and electronic equipment, assessing maintenance needs, identifying parts and solutions, conducting repairs (e.g., drivetrain components, communication equipment, onboard technology, HVAC systems), and adhering to company and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines. Additionally, the role includes receiving fuel drops, conducting fuel sampling, monitoring safety compliance, collecting and preparing fuel samples for analysis, and completing appropriate paperwork. The technician will also identify and perform warrantable repairs, enter accurate information into the maintenance system, complete warranty tags, and create and process warranty claims. Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
  • Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.

Responsibilities

  • Performs minor to intermediate inspections, repairs, and replacements on all Walmart equipment (trailers, tractors, yard trucks, shop equipment, service vehicles).
  • Creates and processes work orders.
  • Performs minor diagnostics with technical and electronic equipment on various Walmart equipment (tractor engine components, electronics, drive trains, minor HVAC).
  • Assesses maintenance, repair, and replacement needs.
  • Identifies needed parts and possible solutions, consulting with others to select the best option.
  • Conducts repairs and replacements (e.g., repair drivetrain components, repair and replace communication equipment and onboard technology, tractor and minor trailer diagnostics of HVAC systems).
  • Follows company and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines and requirements.
  • Communicates with individuals or groups (customers, suppliers, associates) verbally and in writing.
  • Receives fuel drops and conducts fuel sampling, monitoring safety compliance, following procedures for fuel additives, monitoring tank levels, collecting and preparing fuel samples for analysis and shipping, and completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Correctly identifies and performs warrantable repairs by entering accurate information into the maintenance system.
  • Completes warranty tags and ensures parts are retained according to warranty guidelines.
  • Creates and processes warranty claims to ensure proper credit is received according to company guidelines.
  • Works as a team, builds strong and trusting relationships, and communicates with impact, energy, and positivity.
