About The Position

Primary responsibilities include the repair, testing and calibration of laser systems and components as well as organization and tracking of tools and materials. This position is located in our Camas facility. Travel may be required to supply customers with onsite support up to 80%. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and work effectively with Technical Support, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Design Engineers to solve problems quickly and completely. The position will require moving equipment, lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs., and working on equipment incorporating high-power lasers (high-power electronics and high-power optical devices).

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in high volume production environment working with electronics, semiconductor equipment, or opto-mechanical assemblies, as a technician or Lead.
  • AA degree in a technical field is preferred
  • Previous experience servicing electronics, semiconductor equipment or optomechanical assemblies
  • Able to read basic electrical schematics
  • Experienced and able to use typical circuit analysis tools including oscilloscope, curve tracer, DVM
  • Knowledge of electrical power and safety
  • Proficient with Excel and Word
  • Ability to wear Safety Laser Goggles to perform duties
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to safely handle optical fibers
  • Good communication skills
  • Organized and neat

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training in digital electronics or electromechanical repair
  • Previous lab repair experience, preferably as a lead
  • Training in 5S techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of optics, fibers, laser diodes, and laser test equipment is preferred
  • Previous training in problem-solving and quality improvement tools (8D, Pareto, etc.)
  • Experience delivering technical training in a lab setting

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair, laser systems, and associated components
  • Document in detail all repair activities
  • Write failure analysis reports
  • Track and analyze repair data to identify improvement opportunities and new or unusual failure modes
  • Provide feedback and follow-up to Technical Support, Customer service, and Engineering on product and process improvements
  • Manage returns in and out of the repair center; track wait time, repair time, and total turnaround time
  • Demonstrate an unwavering dedication to the safety of yourself and all of those around you
