About The Position

The Service Repair Technician is responsible for repairing, reworking, testing, and upgrading designated complex internal and field returned robotic electro-mechanical assemblies while maintaining compliance with medical device regulations and quality standards. This role partners with many cross functional groups including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Failure Analysis, R&D, and the warehouse. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and determine a path to repair. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working independently and within the framework of a team. Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years medical device or capital equipment experience.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Ability to work with and configure computer hardware and software.
  • Understand and apply GMP and GDP principles.
  • Sound analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Innovative, independent, driven and results oriented.
  • Able to easily adjust to evolving requirements and navigate in a fast-paced environment to meet tight schedules.
  • Effective and proactive written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate within a multi-functional array of mechanical, electrical, system, and software engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Test and repair or perform upgrades on Robotic Platform subsystems, interfaces, and components to return units to service-ready condition.
  • Use of hand tools to disassemble, assemble, and repair mechanical and electrical components.
  • Document test plans and DHR’s, rework/repairs, results, conclusions, and requirements traceably to support release decisions and audits.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot test failures, perform root-cause analysis, and verify corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Establish customer satisfaction through excellence in upgrade, repair and support of customer products internally and externally.
  • Support Johnson & Johnson Quality System by following procedures/work instructions and crafting records to meet the requirements of the Quality Management System.
  • Follow all applicable work instructions, set up and operate machines/equipment/fixtures to perform repair and testing processes.
  • Provide detailed symptom descriptions for failures uncovered during functional test and calibration to assist in component-level troubleshooting.
  • Assisting the Failure Analysis team as needed.
  • Conduct sophisticated quality inspection of own or others’ work to ensure workmanship standards are met.
  • Apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) principles to assembly, test records and related documentation.
  • Identify and raise nonconforming products and support root cause investigation alongside manufacturing engineering.
  • Maintain compliance with ESD controls, clean manufacturing practices, hazardous waste handling, and safety standards; promptly address safety concerns and support risk‑mitigation activities.
