2nd Shift Service Professional (Janitorial)
About The Position
The Service Professional (Janitorial) maintains cleanliness, disinfection, and appearance at assigned commercial properties. The role supports a safe and welcoming environment by completing daily cleaning schedules independently or as part of a team, using cleaning tools and chemicals in accordance with safety protocols. The position is part-time, based in Quincy, Illinois, and serves two medical-facility locations in Hannibal. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, starting at 6 p.m., for 1 hour 30 minutes at one location and 2 hours at the other per shift, totaling 17 hours 30 minutes per week plus travel time.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies, including safe handling and use.
- Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites within the assigned region.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards.
- Good communication skills for professional interaction with clients and team members.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- Previous janitorial or custodial services experience.
- Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and carpet extractors.
- OSHA or other workplace safety training certification.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Secure office and building entrances, turn off lights, and set alarms as required.
- Monitor facilities for unauthorized occupants and report security concerns to management.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain restrooms, including replenishing supplies.
- Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and waste materials.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and otherwise clean and maintain floors.
- Follow safety procedures when using chemical cleaners and powered equipment; safely operate job-related tools and equipment.
- Notify management about maintenance issues, needed repairs, or additions to building systems and facilities.
- Monitor inventory and request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed.
- Clean blinds, glass surfaces, entrance windows, partitions, and mirrors using appropriate methods and equipment.
- Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces.
- Dust and wipe furniture, walls, equipment, machinery, and other surfaces.
- Empty and clean ash receptacles where applicable.
- Collect, sort, and handle recyclable materials according to company procedures.
- At medical facilities, safely handle, transport, and dispose of biohazardous waste in accordance with applicable regulations and company policies.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
