About The Position

As a Service Plumber II, you will gain greater independence in commercial plumbing service, performing routine to moderately complex repairs, maintenance, installations, and troubleshooting across systems in various commercial facilities such as office buildings, schools, hospitals, retail spaces, and industrial facilities. Building on foundational skills, you will handle pipe repairs, fixture replacements, backflow testing, leak detection, and preventive maintenance with increasing confidence. This role also involves assisting senior plumbers on advanced calls and beginning to guide entry-level team members. Requirements

  • 2–5 years of hands-on commercial plumbing service, repair, installation, and maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on routine to moderately complex tasks
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights
  • Ability to bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead
  • Ability to use tools/equipment for extended periods
  • Frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, and physical stamina required
  • Strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, plumbing codes, conduct hazard identification, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators (as needed), and steel-toed boots at all times
  • Solid troubleshooting and repair across commercial plumbing systems (domestic water, drainage, hydronic, backflow, fixtures)
  • Proficiency with plumbing tools (pipe cutters/threaders, torches, pressure testers, drain snakes, diagnostic equipment)
  • Customer communication, problem-solving, and documentation/reporting skills
  • Safety awareness, teamwork, and eagerness to learn advanced systems/mentoring
  • Code compliance basics (IPC/UPC), multitasking, and ability to work under moderate pressure

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school, vocational training, apprenticeship, or equivalent preferred
  • Valid journeyman plumber license (or ability to obtain in assigned jurisdiction) preferred
  • Backflow prevention certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform preventive maintenance, inspections, flushing, pressure testing, and minor repairs on commercial plumbing systems, including domestic water, drainage, hydronic heating/cooling, backflow devices, fixtures, and valves.
  • Diagnose and repair common issues such as leaks, clogs, fixture malfunctions, pump problems, and pipe corrosion, with guidance on more complex cases.
  • Handle installations and replacements of fixtures, faucets, water heaters, pumps, and piping segments per blueprints, codes, and specifications.
  • Conduct backflow prevention testing (if certified), water quality checks, and system optimizations to ensure performance and compliance.
  • Lead standard service calls: assess on-site issues, communicate clearly with customers about problems/solutions/timelines, coordinate parts/materials, execute work, and follow up for satisfaction.
  • Document all activities accurately (work orders, service reports, photos, recommendations) and maintain records for billing, warranty, and quality tracking.
  • Assist senior plumbers (Level III+) on advanced repairs, medical gas work (if applicable), or large-system jobs; begin mentoring Level I plumbers by demonstrating techniques and safety practices.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas, vehicles, tools, and PPE; adhere to all safety protocols, plumbing codes, and company standards.
