About The Position

GEORGE MCKENNA ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS is seeking an experienced Service Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the daily operations of the Electrical Service Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and profitability. This position oversees service technicians, dispatch, scheduling, estimating, and customer relationships while ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and electrical codes.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of commercial electrical service experience
  • 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills
  • Experience with scheduling, estimating, and service management software
  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and electrical drawings
  • Strong organizational, budgeting, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License (preferred)
  • OSHA 30 Certification (preferred)
  • Experience managing commercial electrical service teams

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the electrical service department
  • Lead, coach, and develop service electricians, technicians, and support staff
  • Schedule and coordinate service calls, maintenance, emergency repairs, and small projects
  • Review estimates, proposals, work orders, and invoices for accuracy
  • Ensure outstanding customer service and timely resolution of customer concerns
  • Monitor technician productivity, labor efficiency, and departmental profitability
  • Conduct regular field visits to ensure quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
  • Support business development by identifying service opportunities with existing and new customers
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimating, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution
  • Maintain inventory levels, tools, vehicles, and equipment required for service operations
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements through regular safety meetings and inspections
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs), prepare operational reports, and recommend process improvements
  • Maintain compliance with NEC, local electrical codes, and company quality standards
