About The Position

The Service Foreman leads and supports diesel shop technicians, helping ensure repair work is scheduled and completed efficiently and to a high standard. The role includes developing technician skills in coordination with the Service Manager, providing technical support, monitoring repair progress and productivity, and checking completed work for quality. The employee may also be assigned other duties or instructions by their leader.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of related shop and technician supervision experience.
• Must be insurable with the company’s carrier.

• ASE Master Certification program.

• Cat, Cummins, Eaton, Fuller, or other appropriate manufacturer certifications.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Help diesel mechanics develop their skills with support from the Service Manager.
• Schedule repair work and assign technicians to mechanical segments that match their skill levels.
• Ensure repair assignments are distributed equally and fairly among mechanics.
• Provide technical support to mechanics when necessary.
• Check the work-in-progress status of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks.
• Conduct periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
• Road-test vehicles to quality-check completed work.
• Monitor mechanics’ daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
• Follow other instructions and perform other duties requested by the employee’s leader.
