The Service Electrician performs electrical service work including troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and small installations for commercial and industrial clients. This role requires strong technical knowledge, professionalism, and customer service skills to represent Kearney Electric in the field. The Service Electrician works independently or as part of a team to diagnose electrical issues, ensure safe and reliable operation, and deliver high-quality workmanship that meets or exceeds customer expectations and Kearney Electric standards. The Service Electrician supports the Project Manager in coordinating daily work and maintaining adherence to Kearney Electric's Pathways to Excellence mission and core values of Trust, Team, Grit, and Growth.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions typical to Arizona (heat, cold, dust, wind).
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and structures, and work at heights exceeding 30 feet.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier with assistance.
  • Requires manual dexterity to handle tools, materials, and electrical components.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or walk for extended periods.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations without exception.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all crew members.
  • Must communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Ability to complete daily reports, timecards, and material requests accurately.
  • Expected to model professionalism, teamwork, and integrity at all times.
  • Must adhere to company policies, including attendance, conduct, and ethics standards.
  • Demonstrate accountability and initiative in managing assigned tasks and meeting service commitments.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of electrical field experience or maintenance role.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical systems, NEC code, and standard troubleshooting procedures.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair lighting, power distribution, and control circuits with limited supervision.
  • Experience Working on commercial and industrial projects.
  • Skilled with electrical test equipment (multimeters, meggers, circuit tracers etc.).
  • Must be able to pass DPS Fingerprint background check.
  • Journeyman Electrician Licenses (or equivalent experience and knowledge) required.
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30-Hour preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, panels, lighting, receptacles, and equipment in commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Respond to service calls and emergencies promptly and professionally, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, one-lines, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute work accurately.
  • Install, replace, and maintain electrical components including switchgear, conduits, breakers, transformers, wiring systems, lighting fixtures and controls.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits using meters, test instruments, and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate and communicate job details with the Service Manager, Account Manager, and customers to ensure clarity and satisfaction.
  • Prepare detailed service reports, documenting findings, work performed, materials used, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely daily job logs, timecards, and material usage records.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and company safety policies, maintaining a safe and organized jobsite.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training sessions.
  • Represent Kearney Electric with professionalism, clear communication, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
