About The Position

Lighting Maintenance Inc. (LMI) is hiring a Service Electrician with a Journeyman Electrician license to support our commercial, industrial, and government service operations. This is a hands-on, field-based role for a technician who knows lighting systems cold, can work independently, and takes pride in doing the job right the first time. If you’re a problem-solver who can walk onto a site, diagnose issues quickly, and fix them correctly—keep reading. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing lighting and electrical systems across a wide range of environments. Work includes everything from routine service calls to complex diagnostics and system upgrades. This role requires strong technical ability, professionalism with customers, and the ability to operate a bucket truck safely.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician License (Required)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in lighting/electrical service
  • Strong experience in commercial and/or industrial lighting systems
  • Solid understanding of NEC and electrical codes
  • Experience operating bucket trucks / aerial lifts
  • Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years preferred experience in lighting/electrical service
  • CDL is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair commercial and industrial lighting systems (120/208V and 277/480V).
  • Diagnose LED systems including drivers, fixtures, photocells, controls, wiring, and power issues.
  • Perform lighting upgrades, retrofits, and component replacements.
  • Install wiring, fixtures, and electrical components per code.
  • Identify upstream electrical issues and communicate solutions clearly.
  • Use locators and fault finders.
  • Verify all work is fully operational before leaving the site.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
  • Use meters, testing equipment, and tools to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections.
  • Safely operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts in active environments.
  • Conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections.
  • Set up traffic control and safe work zones.
  • Work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and site personnel.
  • Represent LMI with a high level of professionalism.
  • Document work performed, materials used, and any follow-up needs.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.
  • Complete service work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Use company systems/software accurately (work orders, time, materials).
  • Manage time to reduce callbacks and rework.
  • Take full ownership of job quality and outcomes.
  • Follow all OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards.
  • Use required PPE at all times.
  • Report safety issues or near misses immediately.
  • Maintain all licenses, certifications, and training requirements.
