The Service Drive Buyer plays a critical role in supporting inventory acquisition and driving dealership profitability by identifying and purchasing vehicles directly from service lane customers.

Requirements

  • Prior automotive sales, service advisor, or vehicle acquisition experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust quickly.
  • Confident in initiating conversations and overcoming objections in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to assess vehicle condition and understand basic appraisal principles (training provided if needed).
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Professional, polished, and customer-focused demeanor.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally between Sales and Service departments.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with CRM tools preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Engage service lane customers to identify opportunities to purchase their current vehicle.
  • Build rapport quickly and professionally with guests while they are waiting for service.
  • Appraise vehicles using established dealership processes, tools, and market data.
  • Present purchase offers clearly and confidently, addressing customer questions and objections.
  • Partner with Sales Managers and Used Car Managers to structure competitive and profitable offers.
  • Coordinate with the Service Department to identify high-potential vehicles for acquisition.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, appraisals, and purchase opportunities in CRM systems.
  • Follow up with customers who express interest in selling but do not immediately transact.
  • Support inventory acquisition goals by sourcing desirable pre-owned vehicles aligned with dealership needs.
  • Ensure all transactions are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with dealership and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and customer-focused environment in the service drive
