About The Position

This role involves attending and participating in evening programs and spiritual development of campers and staff. The Service Crew Leader is responsible for maintaining a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters, assisting with camp clean-up, and supervising cabins in the evenings. The position also requires attendance and participation in Staff Orientation, camp-wide Recreation, campfires, staff meetings, and staff devotions. Additionally, the role involves assisting with camper check-in and check-out.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude and ability to take a leadership role.
  • 21+ years of age preferred.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained on site).
  • Experience and previous knowledge of camp Recreation.
  • Ability to use positive behavior management techniques with campers and an ability to adapt to difficult situations with a sense of maturity and safety.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal and communal living and behaviors.

  • Ability to reflect and model the high standards of our organization.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to access and produce information from the computer.
  • Ability to understand written information.
  • Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably NASP or USA Archery Certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Service Crew staff in their weekly assignments.
  • Ensure PTM compliance for any staff under the age of 18.
  • Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual Recreation.
  • Enforce, and abide by, all camp policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the health and well-being of self and campers.
  • Always maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers.
  • Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain group/staff control at specialized group Recreation so that other support staff can focus on safety.
  • Always ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct.
  • Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.
  • Attend relevant in-service trainings.
  • Meet weekly with senior leadership and communicate needs, program changes, and concerns related to staff and campers.
  • Create and distribute activity schedules and staff assignments weekly for Service Crew staff.
  • Help coordinate dining hall set up and cleaning for camper mealtimes.
  • Coordinate In-Service training for Service Crew.
  • Facilitate a daily bible study and spiritual growth opportunities for Service Crew staff.
  • Assist with planning of all campfire programs if directed.
  • Perform all other duties and roles assigned, including assisting in duties not directly related to this specific job description for the smooth operation of the camp.

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
