About The Position

MU Health Care is seeking a Service Coordinator to join our Fayette Family Medicine team. We're looking for a dedicated individual who can provide exceptional leadership and foster effective communication among our healthcare providers and support staff. Requirements

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
  • Three (3) years of customer service and or clerical experience. Education may be substituted in lieu of experience.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer.
  • Ability to type depending upon the position available.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in business.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a physician’s office, hospital admissions, or patient accounts.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between management, health care providers and support staff to ensure communication between these groups.
  • Instruct and advise support staff on changes in policies, procedures or working standards.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of Patient Service Representatives and/or Patient Account Representatives.
  • Perform all aspects of unit specific tasks to ensure all tasks of revenue cycle are completed.
  • Maintain accurate provider schedules in computer system.
  • Complex decision-making and problem resolution.
  • Assist with performance monitoring and evaluations, interviewing, hiring, discipline, and termination decisions.
  • Oversee and complete various department specific projects.
  • Perform supervisory functions necessary to maintain daily operations.
  • Provide leadership role to staff members utilizing knowledge gained through experience.
  • Monitor daily workflow and production, adjusting priorities, requesting temporary help, adjusting schedules, and time off requests, as necessary.
  • Review/audit contracted collection agencies for appropriate collections.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.
  • Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
