About The Position

Timken Power Systems, Philadelphia Gear brand, is seeking a Service Center Engineering Manager based out of Houston, TX regional service center. The purpose of the Service Center Engineering Manager position is to manage and lead the engineering and quality activities at the Houston regional service center (RSC). The Service Center Engineering Manager will provide technical evaluations to support customer requests and work with all members of the site team to achieve promised on-time delivery commitments. Occasional travel required (<10%) to customer sites and periodic company training event.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
  • 12-15 years of experience with rotating equipment design/ engineering
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be PC literate and proficient in CAD
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Support and provide guidance to all direct reports within the RSC Engineering department.
  • Support teardown activities by determining failure mode and developing required scope of repair on equipment.
  • Use established standards and procedures for generating products that are manufactured to meet customer requirements within the QC and design standards set by the company and AGMA.
  • Oversee the processes associated with performing high-quality, on-time inspection and repair services.
  • Reverse engineer applications as required.
  • Review of customer technical requirements.
  • Liaison to sales, supply chain and operations for technical support.
  • Provide input to purchasing and suppliers.
  • Work closely with shop personnel on assigned projects.
  • Oversee assembly and final product testing to ensure quality standards and on-time delivery commitments are kept.
  • Provide final reports as required per contract.
  • Work as part of global PG engineering team.
  • Assure timely response to all customer needs and requests.
  • Plan for on-time delivery.
  • Perform necessary customer presentations during customer visits to facility as required.
  • Assigned jobs will include project management of breakdowns, technically complex work, and large high dollar orders.
  • Interface/support Customer Service for estimating and status updates as required.
  • Function in a teamwork atmosphere for all endeavors.
  • Provide technical support for subcontracted operations at vendors.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of reports and data packages etc.
  • Oversee QC activities including but not limited to, calibration, corrective actions, and audits.
  • Performs other duties as require.
