About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Service Center Director to lead operations at our Orrville Service Center and help provide vital assistance to individuals and families in need. In this rewarding role, you will oversee community service programs, build meaningful partnerships, coordinate volunteers, secure funding opportunities, and serve as a visible ambassador for The Salvation Army throughout the community. This position offers the opportunity to combine leadership, community engagement, and service to create lasting impact. The Service Center Director coordinates all facets of Service Center operations within the assigned geographic area. Through effective leadership and community outreach, the Director ensures the delivery of social service programs, emergency assistance, volunteer engagement, fundraising initiatives, and collaborative partnerships that meet local community needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and at least three years of related experience.
  • Ability to make independent decisions within established organizational policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Commitment to serving diverse populations with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all Service Center operations in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and oversee emergency assistance, seasonal programs, and other human service initiatives.
  • Identify emerging community needs and recommend new service opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate collection and reporting of program statistics and outcomes.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with local community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with local United Way partners and ensure timely reporting and communication.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, volunteers, and service providers to improve service delivery.
  • Represent The Salvation Army through presentations, public speaking engagements, and community outreach activities.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteers.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to part-time staff members, including the Service Center Program Manager.
  • Lead and support Advisory Committee recruitment, engagement, and meetings.
  • Create a positive, mission-focused team environment.
  • Develop and coordinate fundraising activities that increase awareness and support for The Salvation Army's mission.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets.
  • Prepare grant applications and reports, including statistical and budgetary analysis.
  • Support local funding opportunities, including United Way grant initiatives.
  • Authorize routine expenditures within established policy guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, reporting requirements, and program standards.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
