This role involves a variety of clerical and operational support tasks within a service center environment. Key responsibilities include managing freight manifests, assisting dispatchers with driver assignments and communication, scheduling, tracking, tracing, and billing. The position also supports line haul activities, helps plan dispatches to meet cost and service goals, and handles discrepancies in received or shipped items. A significant part of the role may involve investigating and resolving overages, shortages, and damaged freight issues (OS&D), including hazardous materials, and preparing associated paperwork. Additionally, the clerk will maintain an organized OS&D area and serve as a first-line resource for less experienced clerical staff, providing coaching, answering questions, and conducting on-the-job training. Other duties may include setting up and maintaining employee files, processing payroll information, and coordinating new hire paperwork and orientations. Regular attendance is required, and employees must be able to perform all assigned duties as operational needs may require.
