About The Position

The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department and for selling additional needed service to customers. This role involves greeting customers, providing cost estimates, managing repair progress, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Service Advisor also advises customers on vehicle maintenance and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Two years of experience in a dealership position.
  • General knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations.
  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • All applicants must perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Schedules service appointments and obtains customer and vehicle data prior to arrival.
  • Greets customers in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Provides complete and accurate written cost estimates for labor and parts, and establishes a "promised time" for repairs.
  • Monitors repair progress and contacts customers regarding any changes to the estimate or promise time, explaining cost and time requirements, and obtaining authorization for additional repairs.
  • Performs test drives or refers to a test technician as necessary.
  • Maintains Customer Satisfaction Index rating at or above the manufacturer, zone, or branch average.
  • Advises customers on vehicle care and the importance of maintenance according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintains a dealership-prescribed standard for "hours per customer repair order written."
  • Understands and follows federal, state, and local regulations, including those governing hazardous waste disposal and OSHA right-to-know.
  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures and reports any accidents immediately.
