About The Position

The Server is responsible for activities in the Restaurant and Hospitality Department under the direction of the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality. The role delivers quality service during meal periods, follows special-diet requirements offered by the community, and communicates appropriate matters to Distinctive Living. This is a part-time position at Mira Vie at Montville, with a listed schedule of 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Server helps foster a positive dining-room service culture, supports efficient and pleasant meal delivery, checks resident preferences and satisfaction, and maintains a clean dining room. The position also includes working safely, addressing unsafe actions, and contributing to teamwork and a positive experience for co-workers, residents, and visitors.

Requirements

Must have compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and able to make decisions.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Pleasant, professional, and personable.
Food-service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop a positive customer-service culture in the dining room through staff training.
Evaluate service quality and develop systems to maximize meal-delivery efficiency while maintaining a pleasant dining experience.
Ensure staff provide service that supports good resident experiences during mealtimes.
Circulate in the dining room to determine resident preferences and satisfaction with meals.
Develop service systems that balance meal-delivery quality and speed.
Maintain a clean dining room, including equipment, walls, tabletops and bases, and chairs.
Ensure linens are changed as needed and tabletop condiments and salt and pepper shakers are kept clean.
Work safely and ensure employees working with them do so; manage unsafe actions in compliance with the Safety Committee Standard.
When workplace injuries occur, assist the Executive Director as required with investigation, return to work, and communication with the injured worker’s care provider and Distinctive Living.
Foster teamwork, show initiative in overcoming obstacles, assist others beyond job responsibilities, and positively affect co-workers, residents, and visitors.
