About The Position

Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Part-Time Cafe Server to provide guests with the finest food and drink, accompanied by an attentive and positive attitude, for a flagship seminary school in the heart of Alexandria, VA. This role is part-time and requires availability Tuesday-Saturday, 4pm-10:30pm. The position offers $15.00 per hour plus tips and free meals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Familiarity with state and local laws regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages
• Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages
• ServSafe® and/or RSVP Certification; ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
• Exceptional customer service skills; strong team player
• Excellent communication and good organizational skills
• Ability to stand/move about for long periods of time and lift 30 lbs
• Ability to handle high-volume customers
• Reliable Transportation
• Ability to work nights and weekends on an on-call basis as needed

Nice To Haves

• 1 or more years of related work experience preferred
• Prior experience busing tables, catering, or bartending experience within a restaurant, hotel, or conference center operation

Responsibilities

• WOW guests and provide an exceptional dining experience
• Courteously greet guests, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding food, drinks, and service
• Relays orders to the service bar and kitchen via the point-of-sale computerized register system
• Bus tables, remove dishes and utensils at the end of service
• Handle cash and credit card transactions
• Perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service; maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness
• Reset dining areas to ensure readiness for incoming guests
• Comply with responsible alcohol service guidelines, including serving guests responsibly
