About The Position

Our Servers are responsible for greeting and serving Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown guests in a genuine and friendly manner. Working safely and within Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown strict guidelines related to COVID-19 prevention. Servers may be required to prepare beverages requested by guests and monitor guest behavior and guest alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of customers; check identification whenever the age of a guest requesting alcoholic beverage service is questionable.

Requirements

  • Full-time able to work weekday and weekend shifts.
  • Working safely and withing Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown strict guidelines related to COVID-19 prevention.
  • Server team members are required to serve food while mindful of food allergies.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
  • Ability to concentrate in high-volume high-pressure area.
  • Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and can lift 50 lbs.
  • Possess considerable ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
  • First Aid and CPR certified.
  • ServSafe and TiPS certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional language ability preferred.
  • Prior related work experience (hotel experience preferred)
  • Hilton experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take food and beverage orders and place orders in point of service system.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Set and clear tables in dining areas.
  • Stock service stations with items such as ice, napkins, or straws.
  • Pick up order from food preparation areas and ensure food is prepared accordingly.
  • Delivers food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items
  • Ensure that food is prepared correctly and to the guest’s satisfaction; return incorrect or improperly cooked items to the kitchen
  • Collect plates and clear table as guests finish their meal
  • Prepare guest check and if appropriate complete payment transaction.
  • Perform other food and beverage functions such as bartending and bussing in the event of staff staffing shortages or peak periods.
  • Prepare workstation for readiness prior to opening and closing of each shift.
  • Follow all cash handling and bank operating procedures
  • Perform all side work duties according to side work schedules.
  • While interacting with guests inform them of enhancements to their dining experience.
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
