About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to take orders from the customers in the dining room, quickly and correctly; enter orders into the Point of Sale System; and bring food and beverage, items along with other necessary items, to the table. This position is critical to the success of this Pizza Hut in that it is a necessary step in selling and delivering products to its customers.

Requirements

  • Able to perform or learn to perform the essential functions of the position at an acceptable pace.
  • Sufficient physical condition to perform the functions of the position, including lifting completed menu items, delivering them to tables, serving customers, bending and stooping, standing and walking for the majority of on-job time.
  • Sufficient visual ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and customers.
  • Physically able to work under conditions of high temperature, as food preparation areas are located close to ovens and ambient temperature can exceed 80 degrees.
  • Self-control to work under stress due to pressures from volume of business, time, and variety of orders, while maintaining composure and interacting effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Mental alertness to work effectively without supervision or assistance and perform job functions in a consistent and reliable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring cleanliness and proper organization of dining room, primarily own sections and secondarily other servers' sections.
  • Checking sections in the dining room for readiness for customers.
  • Ensuring that tables, booths, and chairs are clean.
  • Cleaning dining room windows and carpet.
  • Ensuring all tables have one placemat for each seat.
  • Ensuring all tables have correct marketing materials, such as table tents, and cleaning or replacing any that are not clean.
  • Verifying that tables have correct condiments and paper towels, and that condiment containers are clean and full.
  • Greeting customers at the door within 30 seconds of their arrival, being friendly and professional.
  • Taking turns seating customers, ensuring all customers are greeted and seated within the 30-second standard.
  • Determining the number of customers in a party and which server's section is next in rotation.
  • Checking for special needs of customers, such as those with disabilities or groups with children needing highchairs or boosters.
  • Escorting customers to the table at a casual pace.
  • Informing customers about specials or suggesting items like breadsticks or chicken wings while considering their meal choices.
  • Delivering menus to customers and informing them that their Server will be right with them.
  • Greeting tables within 2 minutes of customers being seated.
  • Bringing all serviceware to the table when greeting customers.
  • Suggesting upgraded soft or alcoholic beverages (to adults, where applicable) and writing down beverage orders.
  • Explaining the menu, suggesting appetizers like breadsticks or wings, and writing down appetizer orders.
  • Entering appetizer and beverage orders into SUS, the Point of Sale system.
  • Preparing and delivering beverages on a tray to the customers' table within 3 minutes of the order.
  • Suggestively selling specialty pizzas and other menu items, writing down orders, and suggesting add-ons like salads or breadsticks or wings.
  • Entering entree orders into SUS, the Point of Sale system.
  • Following up at the table before the main entree arrives to check for needs like beverage refills.
  • Prebussing the table of any finished dishes.
  • Delivering the main entree to the table, serving the first slice of pizza to the guest.
  • Checking back at the table to ensure satisfaction and to sell additional food items.
  • Suggesting a cookie or Cinnastix as customers near the end of their meals.
  • Entering dessert orders into SUS, the Point of Sale system.
  • Delivering the check to the table, thanking the customer, and inviting them to return.
  • Delivering any needed/requested packaging for leftover menu items.
  • Processing customers' payments rapidly, within 3 minutes.
  • Bussing, cleaning, and resetting the table for the next guest(s) after customers leave.
  • Assisting with answering phone calls, taking carryout and delivery orders, and responding to customers at the carryout counter and drive-thru window.
  • Locating carryout orders and cashing out carryout customers' orders.
  • Performing assigned sidework, such as slicing lemons for tea.
  • Maintaining the salad bar (in restaurants with salad bars), including refilling items, straightening utensils, and keeping it clean and organized.
  • Ensuring the assigned section is clean and ready for service at the end of the shift.
  • Performing closing tasks as assigned by the Manager on Duty, such as breaking down the salad bar or vacuuming carpeted areas.
  • Performing duties listed on an assigned clean-up list obtained from the Manager on Duty.
