Requirements

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience as a bus person required, food runner experience a plus.
• Previous experience working in a fine dining restaurant required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers Card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
• The employee is regularly required to stand for an extended length of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk, see or hear.
• The employee is constantly required to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally, employees must climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
• The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds including carrying heavy food trays.
• Occasionally, employees may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.
• Employees in this position interact daily with managers, supervisors, service and kitchen personnel, and customers.
• Employees may also interact regularly with other department personnel.

Responsibilities

• Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and bars.
• Ensures all dishes are garnished according to kitchen manager standards.
• Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
• Assists with the removal of all china, glassware and silverware from dining room.
• Lades soup, tosses salads, brews coffee, and performs other services as determined by particular restaurant practices.
• Helps clear and reset tables at conclusion of each course.
• Completes assigned "side work" prior to opening and completes all closing duties in a thorough manner.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid San Diego County Food Handlers and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
• The Server will enhance the guest's experience by insuring that their needs are served in timely manner.
• The runner will enable the servers to focus on other guest needs and will assist kitchen employees by preventing the food line from becoming overloaded or backed up.
