About The Position

BLACK BEAR DINER HAYWARD Responsible for greeting all guests in a professional, friendly and family oriented way before, during and after the meal period.

Requirements

  • Be punctual to begin your work.
  • Wear proper uniform (black slacks, Black Bear Diner shirt, suspenders and apron) and name badge at all times.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times.
  • All food servers must have current Food Handlers Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • You are required to work over time, if needed.
  • As a server, you are not allowed to comp any meals, unless approved by management.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting all guests in a professional, friendly and family oriented way before, during and after the meal period.
  • Approaching the table within no more than two minutes after guests are seated.
  • Offering beverages before taking food orders.
  • Announcing specials per meal period.
  • Taking food orders, making sure that orders are repeated back to guests to avoid any mistakes.
  • Communicating to guests if any items are out of stock.
  • Putting orders into Aloha, making sure that all modifications are placed.
  • Connecting with the kitchen expeditor or kitchen manager for any special request or modifications.
  • Checking back with the guests to offer beverage refills after orders have been placed.
  • Communicating to guests any delays from the kitchen.
  • Maintaining guests informed at all times.
  • Maintaining a cheerful and positive attitude at all times.
  • Keeping all working areas clean at all times, sweeping and vacuuming floors as necessary.
  • Maintaining all working stations clean and organized at all times.
  • Reporting any equipment failures and any shortages of supplies immediately to the Manager.
  • Taking breaks on time.
  • Returning to work stations after breaks on a timely manner.
  • Making sure that all guest checks are double checked before presenting to guests.
  • Getting manager approval for any voids, wrong orders or when guests change their mind.
  • Being a team player, taking ownership of the entire Restaurant, not just your station.
  • Making food runs when needed.
  • Communicating all transitions of stations immediately to management.
  • Refilling all sugar caddies with proper condiments and re-stocking all sauces, ketchup and mustards, refilling salt & pepper shakers.
  • Completing all side works before punching out from your shift.
