About The Position

The objective of all positions is to effectively provide the services personally, or to immediately refer requests to the appropriate department manager. The following is a summary of the major responsibilities of the position. The purpose of this role is to wait on tables promptly, courteously, and to serve the guest in any way possible.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year fine dining serving experience, preferably in a steak house.
  • Possess an unexpired State of Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission Server Permit or have the ability to obtain one before date of hire.
  • Developed knowledge of wine, spirits, and beer with experience selling and presenting wines.
  • Previous cash handling experience required.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management and co-workers.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently input information into MICROS.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up on guest requests and needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service, service recovery and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Follow, enforce, comply and adhere to all Bob’s Steak & Chop House rules, policies, procedures, standards and recipes always.
  • Greet guests when entering the restaurant with a pleasant smile and superior customer service.
  • Set tables according to type of event and service standards.
  • Take orders and answer questions/offer suggestions on both food and beverage menu selections, and daily specials.
  • Communicate with culinary team regarding meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and special requests.
  • Record transaction in MICROS system at time of order, and adhere to cash handling standards.
  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverage.
  • Present accurate check to guest and process payment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day.
  • Clean and set up tables.
  • Polish and clean the water glasses in his/her assigned station before opening hours.
  • Station set-up and breakdown/side-work.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the restaurant manager.
  • Be pleasant, smile and greet all guests, using surnames when obtained.
