About The Position

The Server role is responsible for ensuring a positive dining experience for guests by preparing table settings, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and addressing any guest concerns. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work during patio season and requires physical stamina.

Requirements

Previous work experience in a restaurant is an asset.
Valid Smart Serve Certification.
Food Safe Handling Certification is an asset.
Excellent guest relations and communication skills.
Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare table settings according to restaurant standards, including cutlery, glasses, napkins, and condiments.
Be knowledgeable about all menu items, ingredients, and daily/weekly specials.
Greet guests in a friendly and welcoming manner upon arrival.
Serve water and menus to seated guests promptly.
Take beverage orders at an appropriate time after guests are seated.
Deliver beverage orders, answer menu-related questions, suggest specials, and take food orders.
Upsell wine with meals.
Deliver food orders, prioritizing children's meals when alerted.
Inform guests about potential delays if the kitchen is experiencing a backlog.
Refill water glasses and take additional beverage orders.
Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction and promptly address any food-related issues.
Involve management to resolve any guest dissatisfaction.
Clear plates and cutlery once guests have finished their meal, confirming with the guest before clearing.
Offer dessert, coffee, and tea selections after the main course.
Coordinate with kitchen staff for special occasion desserts (birthdays, anniversaries) upon guest arrival.
