Requirements

  • Ability to maintain standards for service, steps of service and all departmental standards.
  • Must have high level knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, serviceware, and menu items.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, communicates with guests to explain and record orders.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and learn Point of Sales procedures to pre-check orders and close out the check.
  • Prior food and beverage experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient food and beverage service to guests.
  • Create a welcoming dining environment, taking accurate orders, delivering meals, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Accurately take guest orders, answer menu questions, provide recommendations when needed and up-sell with each opportunity.
  • Deliver meals, coffee, juice, and other beverages quickly and correctly, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Keep tables, dining areas, and service stations clean, sanitized, and well-stocked throughout the shift.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest needs, including refilling beverages and clearing dishes as appropriate.
  • Accurately present checks and handle guest payments.
  • Prepare the dining area before service (setting tables, restocking supplies) and assist with cleanup and resetting afterward.
  • Comply with food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures as required by the hotel and local regulations.
  • Abide by all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking service areas.
  • Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards.
  • Polish glassware and silverware.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and personal hygiene.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
