About The Position

Parla is a spot to celebrate NY-style pizza and Italian-inspired cocktails from the team behind The Smith. Opening this fall on the Upper West Side, Parla is an all-day destination for lunch and dinner, with plans to serve baked goods at breakfast. The square and round pizzas are the anchors of the menu, along with house-made pastas, veggies, and shareable plates created by Executive Chef Brian Ellis. The bar specializes in espresso, wine, and cocktails using a curated selection of amari and vermouth. We are looking to build a team of talented and passionate hospitality professionals to help us launch Parla. This is a unique opportunity to become a part of and contribute to the opening of a brand-new concept!

Requirements

  • 2-years of experience in a fast-casual dining environment

Responsibilities

  • Serve all guests by being attentive throughout the entire length of their meal.
  • Create a welcoming environment for guests.
  • Say yes! Always try to find a way to accommodate a request.
  • Guide guests through their experience by offering specials, recommending cocktails, and providing suggestions.
  • Pay special attention to all dietary restrictions by informing the kitchen.
  • Observe the entire dining experience ensuring that every meal and every moment exceeds expectations.
  • Take orders from guests and input them into the point of sale.
  • List ingredients or common allergens for guests from memory
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage with a strong ability to service, educate, and sell
  • Strong ability to anticipate needs and consistently provide exceptional customer service
  • Passionate about flavor profiles and food pairings
  • Knowledge of wine and/or spirits history
  • Ability and willingness to support food runner, as needed, to run meals in a timely manner
  • Ability to attend pre-shift meetings, monthly training workshops and regular communication meetings
