About The Position

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service. Assists residents when placing orders from the menu, provides beverage service, and refills salt/pepper/sugar bowls. Reports any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor. Understands sit-down service and proper serving techniques, and has a basic understanding of food preparation, food storage, and labeling techniques. Responsible for cleaning the kitchen and dining room, attending required in-services and staff meetings, and completing all other assigned duties. Must be attentive to special needs of residents, assist with tray service, and follow confidentiality policies. Interacts in a polite and considerate manner with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.

Requirements

Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene
Must be able to read and follow simple instructions
Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision
Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects
Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time
Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members

Responsibilities

Serve resident and guest meals courteously
Clean and reset dining room following meal service
Assist residents with menu orders
Provide beverage service
Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls
Report broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques
Have a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.)
Have knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques
Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room
Attend required in-services and staff meetings
Complete all other assigned duties
Be attentive to special needs of residents (e.g., mobility deficits, memory impairment)
Assist with tray service
Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information
Interact in a polite and considerate manner to residents, guests, co-workers and supervisors
