About The Position

Scala Osteria is a dynamic, high-energy restaurant in downtown Napa focused on Southern Italian cuisine, seafood, and a lively bar-driven atmosphere. We are looking for experienced servers who take pride in delivering warm hospitality, strong food and beverage knowledge, and attentive service in a fast-paced environment. At Scala, we believe great service is about more than efficiency. We combine polished service standards with genuine hospitality, creating a welcoming, comfortable, and memorable experience for every guest. As a Server, you will be responsible for guiding guests through their dining experience from arrival to departure. Successful candidates are knowledgeable, organized, personable, and able to maintain attention to detail while managing multiple priorities during busy service periods. This position requires strong communication skills, teamwork, professionalism, and a genuine passion for hospitality.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a server in a full-service, high-volume restaurant environment
  • Strong hospitality and guest service skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude
  • Availability to work weekends, including Sundays, holidays, and peak business periods
  • Current California Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certifications, or the ability to obtain them within required timeframes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in upscale, high-volume, or chef-driven restaurant environments
  • Familiarity with Toast or similar POS systems
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and communicate menu, beverage, and wine information effectively
  • Knowledge of Italian cuisine, wine, and dining traditions

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, professional, and personalized service to guests
  • Develop thorough knowledge of menu items, ingredients, daily specials, and beverage offerings
  • Make food, wine, cocktail, and beverage recommendations based on guest preferences
  • Accurately enter orders and communicate effectively with the kitchen and bar
  • Ensure accurate handling of guest checks, payments, cash, and point-of-sale transactions
  • Provide proper wine service and maintain high service standards throughout the guest experience
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve concerns appropriately
  • Support food running, beverage running, and overall dining room operations
  • Work collaboratively with hosts, bartenders, bussers, food runners, and managers
  • Complete assigned opening, closing, and sidework responsibilities
