About The Position

The San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is a leading senior services organization in Northern California, located in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood on a nine-acre campus. SFCJL offers a continuum of care including the Frank Residences (assisted living and memory care), the Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center (long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, and an acute geriatric psychiatric unit), and its Foundation. Founded in 1871, SFCJL supports over 2,500 older adults annually through innovative programs rooted in Jewish values of compassion, community, and excellence. As a Server at the Frank Residences, you will provide friendly, professional, and efficient table service in the dining room and during catered events. Your role is crucial in supporting a positive dining experience for residents and guests, ensuring proper sanitation, and maintaining a polished and welcoming atmosphere. This position contributes to a high standard of hospitality that supports the health, comfort, and satisfaction of the community members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, especially with older adults.
  • Ability to understand menu offerings, respond to guest requests, and coordinate timely meal service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Must be professional, courteous, and service-oriented at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience waiting tables in a fine dining, hotel, club, or restaurant setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set tables and maintain assigned stations in a clean, orderly manner.
  • Take food and beverage orders, serve meals, and provide requested items courteously and efficiently.
  • Answer questions about menu items and ensure residents' dining needs are met.
  • Clear dishes and reset tables during and after meal service.
  • Deliver food items from the kitchen and assist with portioning of appetizers, salads, soups, beverages, and desserts.
  • Provide consistent, high-quality customer service to residents and their guests.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and sanitary work conditions in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Complete all assigned cleaning and side work tasks.
  • Attend in-service training and required educational sessions.
  • Greet residents and guests warmly and professionally.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest service needs and preferences.
  • Complete end-of-shift duties such as vacuuming, straightening tables/chairs, and refilling condiments.
  • Assist food runners and the Dining Room Manager as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of table numbers, room capacity, operating hours, and proper service standards.
  • Attend resident dining committee meetings when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the dining and hospitality experience.
