About The Position

Servers create the very best member experience in our dining room and bar area by providing professional, knowledgeable, and warm service to all members and their guests. This role involves greeting members, understanding the menu, timing service, learning member preferences, and knowledge of wines and spirits. Servers are responsible for setting up stations, attending pre-shift meetings, providing immediate attention to guests, ensuring safety, distributing menus, informing about specials, handling billing accurately, serving food and drinks, placing orders with the kitchen, checking for satisfaction, presenting and serving desserts, verifying charges, maintaining cleanliness, reporting complaints, performing closing duties, and bidding farewell to guests. They must also follow local and state laws and club policies for serving alcohol.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Ability to read, write and execute basic math skills.
  • Ability to read, speak and understand English.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of comparable server experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and acknowledge members and guests.
  • Be knowledgeable about the menu, including recipes and ingredients.
  • Time service of each course.
  • Learn member’s names and their special preferences.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of wines and spirits.
  • Meet all service standards and expectations including Club’s sequence of service.
  • Set up side station and perform assigned side (prep) work.
  • Attend daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating.
  • Ensure that children are in the appropriate type of seat and are safe and secure.
  • Distribute food and wine menus; answer questions and suggest menu items.
  • Inform members and guests about any food or drink specials.
  • Ensure that the correct account numbers and names are given for billing.
  • Efficiently serve food and drinks in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Place orders with kitchen; inform cooks about any special cooking instructions.
  • Check to ensure member and guest satisfaction.
  • Present dessert menus, suggest and serve dessert, coffee and after-dinner drinks.
  • Verify accuracy of prices, state and federal taxes, and other charges on all checks.
  • Keep dining room and bus station areas clean.
  • Advise supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur.
  • Perform clean-up and closing duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor.
  • Extend a warm and professional farewell to all members and their guests.
  • Consistently follow local and state laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages to members and guests.
  • Perform other appropriate duties assigned.
