About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Server Systems Engineer Senior to join their team in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves supporting a cutting-edge tech program and delivering simple solutions to complex problems. The engineer will tailor cutting-edge solutions to client requirements, prioritizing the end-user experience and focusing on career growth. The position requires designing and defining system architecture, maintaining system workflows, and ensuring the reliable operation of computer systems, including network issue resolution, equipment and software updates, and troubleshooting moderately complex system hardware and software issues. Additionally, the role involves training end-users, performing software installations and upgrades, monitoring and tuning systems for optimal performance, ensuring data integrity through software and hardware solutions, and managing data/media recoverability via system backups and database archives. The engineer will also conduct hardware and software audits for compliance, ensure computer performance and security meet user needs, and may evaluate existing systems for long-term strategy planning and coach less-experienced professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • TS/SCI w/Poly security clearance level
  • US citizenship required
  • Security + CE certification

Responsibilities

  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
  • Maintains an organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software
  • Troubleshoots moderately complex system hardware and software issues
  • Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software
  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions
  • Ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
  • Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users
  • May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies
  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
  • Provide technical support in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures
