Tech - L2 Server Repair Dept. III (Mon-Fri) 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM
About The Position
The Server Repair Tech will be responsible for testing, trouble shooting, and replacement of parts on servers sent to SMS for diagnosis and repair. This role involves daily responsibilities such as inspecting, testing, and diagnosing servers, replacing parts as needed, conducting and analyzing server stress tests, and documenting all symptoms, test results, and parts replaced in the shop floor tool. The Server Repair Tech will also collaborate with various repair and testing teams, provide backup for quality control and inspection, maintain parts consumption, and perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a positive work environment and collaborating with teams such as warehouse, shipping, and receiving, while following processes for system and parts management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent technical experience
- Certifications in Server support and architecture desired
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing servers
- Experience with computer tools such as email, spreadsheets, and call tracking or shop repair tools
- Experience with replacing parts on servers
- Experience with server configuration
- Good written and verbal skills – needs to document errors and repairs
- Prefer to have worked in a PC or server type of environment
- Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Know basic server architecture
- Know how to assemble components to make server functional
- Run and understand testing diagnostics
- Understand basic networking architecture
- Understand basic error codes
- Able to trouble shoot common server errors and issues
- Motivated to solve problems
- Interested in constantly learning about servers and networking
- Increased understanding of testing and error codes
- Brings knowledge to enhance trouble shooting and diagnosis of failures
- Understands end to end flow of server repair process
- Know Linux commands and able to use terminal

Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and diagnose servers

- Collaborate with motherboard repair, motherboard testing, QC, whole unit repair, and inspections personnel
- Provide back up for QC, inspection, whole unit repair, and motherboard testing
- Maintain parts consumption
- Other duties as assigned by leadership
- Maintain and nurture positive work environment
- Work and collaborate with other teams such as warehouse, shipping, receiving, etc.
- Follow process for system and parts management
