About The Position

The Server Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the dining room and providing excellent guest service. This position involves hosting guests, managing table seating, assisting servers and bartenders, and maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of the dining area and its materials. The Server Assistant is responsible for tasks ranging from answering the phone and processing take-out orders to setting tables, delivering food, and clearing and resetting tables according to established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Host guests and coordinate and manage the dining room floor seating.
  • Answer telephone in a pleasant manner and process “take out” and reservation placement.
  • Assist servers as bar back for alcohol service when needed.
  • Ensure that all material used by servers is clean and ready for daily operation.
  • Possess knowledge of the position of each diner’s chair in the dining rooms and lounges.
  • Set the outside line with under liner plates, flatware, doilies, linen napkins and any other items needed for the delivering of food.
  • Organize plates in the window and match each one with each ticket to run the food out to the tables.
  • Assist with delivery of food and beverages as needed by servers/bartenders.
  • Set tables in accordance with Troon Golf standards.
  • Ensure that each menu item is prepared in the exact detail outlined on each ticket.
  • Correct the menu item with the chef before delivering the menu item if it is not meeting the exact specification on the ticket.
  • Fill and re-fill water glasses and remove any place settings not being used.
  • Clear dishes located in front of guest upon completion of course.
  • Clear and reset tables when guests leave, to include changing tablecloths, brushing chairs, placing chairs at tables, replacing silverware and glassware, and replacing napkins.
  • Assist the server when needed.
  • Keep workstations well stocked of items and ingredients.
  • Clean workstations, take out trash, and sweep/vacuum the dining room.
  • Process “take out” orders from placement of order to guest pick up and payment.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
  • Perform other duties as required.
