About The Position

As a Server Assistant in Notch8, you are an integral member of our restaurant team and play an important role in creating a polished, seamless, and memorable dining experience. From preparing tables and service stations to delivering food and beverages, anticipating guest needs, and working alongside your fellow Notch8 colleagues, your attention to detail and genuine hospitality help ensure every guest feels welcomed and well cared for. Through strong teamwork, thoughtful service, and consistent execution, you help bring the Fairmont experience to life and turn everyday dining moments into special memories.

Requirements

Previous experience in a restaurant, banquet, cafeteria, or hospitality environment, with luxury hotel or upscale restaurant experience considered an asset
Strong guest-service orientation with a warm, professional, and attentive approach
Ability to communicate effectively in English
FoodSafe Level 1 or equivalent, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe
Familiarity with food and beverage service and restaurant operations
Ability to safely and efficiently carry trays, food, beverages, and service items while working in a busy Notch8 restaurant environment
Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Organized, reliable, and attentive to detail
Ability to prioritize and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment with changing service demands
Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to Fairmont service and safety standards
Professional appearance and grooming in accordance with hotel standards
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and rotating shifts as required
Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, carrying, and repetitive movement
Ability to lift and carry up to 14 kg (30 lbs.)
Ability to safely carry trays and service items
Ability to work effectively in a busy, noisy restaurant environment with changing service demands
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Responsibilities

Consistently provide professional, friendly, engaging, and personalized service in accordance with Fairmont service standards
Set and reset tables and service stations according to established meal-period and presentation standards
Prepare and maintain mise en place and side stations to ensure the team is ready for service
Deliver water, bread, food, beverages, condiments, and other service items accurately and promptly
Clear and crumb tables, replace settings, and reset tables efficiently while minimizing disruption to our guests
Anticipate the needs of guests and Servers throughout the dining experience and respond promptly to requests
Monitor and replenish china, glassware, flatware, linen, and other service supplies
Communicate table status, guest requests, dietary restrictions, allergies, and service priorities clearly and accurately to Servers, Culinary colleagues, and leaders
Maintain clean, organized, safe, and properly stocked dining areas, service stations, and workspaces
Assist with opening and closing duties, side work, and special-event or private-dining setups as required
Build working knowledge of Notch8 menus, beverage offerings, promotions, and hotel programs to support the guest experience
Follow all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, departmental, and hotel procedures
Follow Fairmont brand standards and the provisions of the applicable Collective Agreement
Maintain professional appearance, grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards
Participate in required briefings, meetings, training, audits, and service excellence initiatives
Promptly report hazards, incidents, injuries, damaged equipment, and maintenance or security concerns
Perform other duties reasonably assigned that are consistent with the nature and scope of the position
