About The Position

Mystic, a fine-dining restaurant located on the Halifax waterfront in the new Queen’s Marque district, is seeking a Server Assistant. The restaurant focuses on exploring the natural landscape of Canada, particularly the Maritime provinces, with an emphasis on exceptional local fish, flora, and fauna. The Server Assistant will be an integral part of the Front of House team, exuding professional grace, expertise, and warmth to forge an honest connection between the kitchen and the table. This role requires an intuitive adaptation to guest needs to ensure a positive and memorable dining experience.

Requirements

Experience working in a similar high-end, luxury, or fine-dining establishment.
Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment.
Organizational skills.
Ability to take direction and prioritize.
Strong oral communication skills.
High level of product knowledge.

Responsibilities

Answering questions about food, beverage, wine, and other restaurant functions and services.
Assisting with food running to ensure plates arrive at the proper guest's seat without needing to announce the dish.
Emptying garbage, linen bags, and disposing of garbage and recycling.
Monitoring the cleanliness of sections and ensuring all materials and areas are clean and free from clutter.
Communicating professionally with servers and hosts to maximize seating.
Communicating guest comments or information to servers to ensure a positive, memorable experience.
Following all food safety standards and systems.
Performing other related duties and responsibilities as may be required.
