About The Position

The Serve Team Lead stewards Serve Team processes across Gateway Church. Building and developing Serve Teams stays inside each ministry; this seat provides the systems, resources, and support that make a vibrant Serve Team culture possible everywhere. It owns Serve Team training, the handbook, and the standards for onboarding, thresholds, and offboarding, and it leads the annual This Is Us Serve Team rally.

Requirements

  • High connectedness across an organization, and high personal responsibility for outcomes
  • Able to build systems others will use, rather than doing the work for them
  • Strong written communication, particularly for handbooks, training, and resources
  • Able to influence and support teams that do not report to them
  • Strong event and program planning skills
  • Able to evaluate engagement data and act on what it shows
  • Comfortable holding others accountable with clarity and care
  • Demonstrated emotional and relational intelligence
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to hold several priorities at once
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn and function within new software and systems
  • Five or more years of ministry or volunteer leadership experience — required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience — required
  • Must be a member or become a member of Gateway Church upon employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing volunteer training, onboarding, or handbook standards across multiple locations — preferred
  • Prior experience in a multisite church environment — preferred

Responsibilities

  • Owns Serve Team training, the Serve Team handbook, and the standards that govern how Gateway builds Serve Teams
  • Provides the systems, resources, and support that make a vibrant Serve Team culture possible at every campus and in every ministry
  • Partners with each campus on Serve Team org charts and staffing needs
  • Sets and evaluates Serve Team thresholds, onboarding, and offboarding processes
  • Leads the annual This Is Us Serve Team rally
  • Stewards the Gateway Ministry Safe partnership
  • Gathers insight from the Area Leads, collaborates with them on design, and is then responsible for the resulting designs and documentation
  • Consults with ministries and campuses as they recruit, place, and develop their own Serve Teams
  • Designs and maintains Serve Team screening, placement, and recognition processes in partnership with the Ministry Systems Manager
  • Partners with the Rock Administrator on how Serve Team processes are built and tracked in the system
  • Evaluates Serve Team health churchwide and reports what the metrics show
  • Builds and maintains Serve Team resources, guides, and training content
  • Supports campuses through Serve Team transitions, gaps, and new campus launches
  • Reviews the metrics for Serve Team engagement and makes recommendations accordingly
  • Is present and serving at weekend services and churchwide events as the ministry calendar requires
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • As a member of the Gateway Church team, this position is expected to support, recruit, and develop Serve Team members, and to serve alongside the broader team as ministry and organizational needs arise.
