About The Position

The Serology Lab Technician is responsible for testing blood and other samples for viral and bacterial disease by detecting antibodies (AB) or antigens (AG). This role involves performing routine and less complex tests, exercising judgment in evaluating and reporting results, and reconciling pending and queue lists daily. The technician will also be responsible for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, adhering to all Quality Assurance policies and protocols, and consulting with senior peers on non-complex tasks. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments.
  • General science background.
  • Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid communication skills- written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written direction.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
  • Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • 2- or 4-year degree in science-related field preferred.
  • Prior lab experience preferred.
  • Awareness of quality control and calibration.
  • Consult with senior peers on non-complex tasks to learn through experience.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and runs lab tests.
  • Reads and releases test results.
  • Collect and build samples to load.
  • Responsible for completing the Coggins Federal forms as required by the USDA.
  • Reconcile pending and queue lists daily.
  • Performs equipment maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Comply with all Quality Assurance policies and protocols.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
